The Greater Niagara Ballet Company is now offering ballet and pointe training for beginners through advanced dancers.
Our instructors follow the principles of the Cecchetti Method of ballet training. The method was devised by the famed ballet teacher Enrico Cecchetti (1850-1928). Cecchetti training seeks to develop essential skills in dancers such as strength, balance, poise, musicality, elevation, elasticity and strength while paying close attention to the principles of anatomy.
Our classes focus on classical training. We do not have recitals or competitions, therefore, there are no costumes to purchase to take our classes. For dancers interested in performance opportunities, the Greater Niagara Ballet Company has several productions a year; students are encouraged to audition for any or all productions to gain this valuable experience.
Our new sprung floor offers reduced muscle fatigue and increased support for dancer’s joints and muscles during classes and rehearsals. The impact of dancing on un-sprung surfaces have many undesirable consequences including undue stress to the feet, ankles, and legs which can lead to chronic pain and injuries. Our floor is non-slip, provides lateral foot support, and is shock-absorbent in order to protect the body from stress fractures, excessive fatigue, and joint stress.
