Rehearsal Schedule Expectations
- All dancers ages 12 and under must be available for Sunday rehearsals.
- Sundays: Primary rehearsal day for Party Scene, Battle Scene, Bon Bons, and Angels.
- Fridays & Saturdays: Primary rehearsal days for Jr/Sr Corps and Soloists (may begin later in October). Note that dancers who audition for Jr Corps, Sr Corps or Solos may still be placed in Party Scene, Battle Scene, Bon Bons, Angels or other roles that may require Sunday availability; auditioning for Jr Corps/Sr Corps/Soloist roles does not guarantee a role in that group.
- All dancers must indicate Friday, Saturday, and Sunday availability on the registration form, regardless of audition.
- All dancers must be fully available for Dress Rehearsal on the evening of December 10th.
- All dancers must be available for the performances on December 11th and 12th.
Absence Limits
Dancers Ages 12 and Under (Party Scene, Battle Scene, Bon Bons, Angels)
- Maximum of 2 Sunday rehearsals may be missed for unavoidable conflicts or illness.
- A doctor’s note is required for any illness/injury absence and must be submitted within 1 week.
- Directors may remove any dancer who exceeds 2 absences, regardless of reason, including illness or other dance commitments.
- Multiple consecutive absences may result in loss of roles.
- If a dancer can attend part of a rehearsal, they are expected to do so.
- If a dancer has 2 or more known Sunday conflicts, auditioning is not recommended. If a dancer is waiting on a schedule for another activity, such as school sports, and are likely to have more than 2 conflicts TOTAL due to that activity, auditioning is not recommended.
- The role of Clara is expected to be available for all Sunday rehearsals and will need some Friday and/or Saturday availability in November.
Jr/Sr Corps & Soloists
- Maximum of 3 rehearsals may be missed for unavoidable conflicts or illness.
- A doctor’s note is required for any illness/injury absence and must be submitted within 1 week.
- Most of these roles will rehearse Friday evening or Saturday afternoon; some roles will require Sunday rehearsals and there will be one or more full company rehearsals on Sundays closer to the performance.
- Exceeding 3 absences, regarding of reason, will result in role reduction or removal at the directors’ discretion.
- If you are a returning Company Member who has danced in these roles in the past 2 seasons, and have more than 3 conflicts, please email us to determine if you can still audition.
- The role of Clara is expected to be available for all Sunday rehearsals and will need some Friday and/or Saturday availability in November.
Attendance Requirements
- Any dancer who misses their first rehearsal or any rehearsal without notifying the Company will be automatically removed from the cast.
- Rehearsals are expected to begin October 4 for Party Scene, Battle Scene, and Angels
- Jr/Sr Corps and soloist roles may start as early as October 4th but may also start as late as the second half of October. Please list ALL October or November conflicts as the rehearsal schedule will not be finalized until after auditions.
- All absences must be approved in advance.
- Dancers/families should avoid scheduling additional vacations, events, or outside commitments during rehearsal periods.
- Excessive absences – whether excused, unexcused, or medically documented – may result in:
- Loss of roles
- Reduced stage time
- Dismissal from the cast
Agreement
By checking this agreement on the audition form, I acknowledge the following:
- I have fully read and understand the GNBC Rehearsal Attendance Policy.
- I do not exceed the maximum allowed absences:
- 2 or fewer Sunday conflicts for dancers ages 12 and under
- 3 or fewer Friday/Saturday/Sunday conflicts for Jr/Sr Corps or Soloists
- I understand that all absences must be approved in advance.
- I understand that missing rehearsals, whether full or partial, may affect casting and stage time.
- I understand that any medical absence requires a doctor’s note within 1 week; calling in sick without documentation is considered unexcused.
- Unexcused absences or a no-show will result in dismissal from the cast.
- I understand that excessive absences of any type may result in dismissal from the cast, as all dancers must have sufficient rehearsal time to perform safely and successfully.
